Instructions for Poster Presentations at the STMS World Congress 2025

  1. Poster size and layout:
    • Posters should fit a display board with a surface area of 1.2 meters high by 1.8 meters wide.
    • Consider effective materials such as paper or fabric scrolls for your display. Avoid thick or heavy backing, as push pins may not secure such materials properly. Although pins will be available on-site, bringing your own is recommended.
  2. Readability:
    • Ensure posters are easily readable from a distance of approximately 1 meter. Use a font size large enough for clarity (e.g., an 18-point Times font).
    • Use strong visual contrast, as around 10% of viewers may have some degree of colour blindness. Avoid subtle shades or colour combinations that are difficult to distinguish.
  3. Content requirements:
    • Title, authors, and institution(s): Display prominently across the top with lettering between 2.5–5.0 cm in height.
    • Abstract: Include this in the top left corner.
    • Sections: Ensure your poster tells a coherent story with sections like Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and Acknowledgments.
    • Visuals: Use simple tables, figures, illustrations, and photographs, each with clear legends to explain the key message independently.
  4. Design tips:
    • Use concise text and bullet points to emphasize the main points without overwhelming the viewer.
    • Include interpretative legends for each table and figure to aid understanding.
    • Summary and conclusion: Present key takeaways in a clear, brief manner.
    • Acknowledgments: Note funding sources, institutional support, and significant contributors not listed as authors.
  5. Submission guidelines:
    • Submit a pdf of your poster via the Contact form.
    • Include the poster title, author names, and a brief abstract in the message field.
    • Submission deadline: 1 March 2025
    • Poster note that all poster presenters must be registered for the conference
  6. Presentation and handling:
    • Transport your poster as carry-on luggage to avoid delays or loss.
    • Arrive early to set up your poster and ensure it is taken down promptly after the session ends.
